Cass County Sheriff's Department traffic investigation leads to drug bust

An investigation is still ongoing after a homeowner involved in a traffic crash in St. Joseph County fled the scene.

Cass County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call on the 10000 block of Bald Hill Street in Newburg Township.

The homeowner admitted to driving the truck. However, further investigation revealed that he had two warrants and two other stolen trucks were found on the property.

Marijuana and methamphetamine were also found in the home during the investigation.

A 49-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail awaiting arraignment.

Meanwhile, Michigan Child Protective Services also helped in the placement of the children who were also in the home at the time of the incident. Deputies were also assisted by the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.
