After copper theft delays, Buchanan Middle School set to reopen

There's good news for Buchanan Middle School students -- or at least for their parents.

The school has been given the green light to open its doors next week after passing all of its inspections.

Sometime between 2 p.m. on August 15 and 6 a.m. on August 17, police say someone broke into the school's construction site and tore a substantial amount of copper material from the walls and ceiling.

The break-in interfered with new upgrades underway at the middle school, including a new gym.

But now they're back on track.

Doors will open bright and early Monday morning at 7:20 a.m. for grades five through seven.

The school is still in the process of finishing up some much-needed work

A ribbon cutting and community open house are planned for early October.
