DETROIT- A 3-year-old Detroit boy has been shot and killed as he and his 11-year-old brother were playing with a gun on Detroit's east side.
Police say the shooting was reported about 1:40 p.m. Monday.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt tells The Detroit News that the boys were "playing inside a car in their backyard when the shot was fired" and that the "younger brother is dead."
Dolunt says the shooting appears to be accidental and that the gun has been recovered.
WDIV-TV reports that the boys found the handgun and played with it as they ran around the outside of the home. They then got into the parked car where the shooting occurred.
