Triton is all about making some history right now and there is a whole lot celebrating going on in Bourbon county.

For the first time in the 19 year history of the 16 Spirit Award, Triton is the weekly winner.

On Thursday, WNDU Sports Director Angelo Di Carlo will present the Trojans with a plaque from Monteith’s Best One and WNDU for showing the most school spirit on last week’s edition of Friday Night Football.

The Trojans won with 37% of the vote, outlasting South Bend Riley (22%), Edwardsburg (20%), Marian (19%) and St. Joe MI (2%).

Triton has plenty of reasons to be spirited. The program is off to their first 3-0 start since 2008 and have already won more games this season than each of the last two years. In fact, Triton’s 3 wins is already tied for the most in a season since 2004.

The 3-0 start in 2008 is the last time Triton produced a winning record. They won a sectional championship that season.

Triton is at home for the 4th straight week this Friday night as they host Bremen, in a battle of two former members of the now defunct Northern State Conference.
