Tony Jones Jr. hopes to be more of a 'complete back' in the fall

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame football held it's ninth practice of the spring on Saturday morning.

One player who Coach Kelly says has shown significant improvement throughout spring ball has been running back Tony Jones Jr.

"We're seeing a guy that is running with low pads, playing physical and it's the same guy every day," Kelly said. "We've got an A + [Jones Jr.] one day and a C+ [Jones Jr.] We're getting a consistent [Jones Jr.] every day and that's good for him and he's made those adjustments to come out here and practice at a high level every day."

The running back says the main thing he's been working on over the past few weeks is his mental game. He wants to be conditioned so he can be more of a complete back for the Irish in the fall.

That's because Jones Junior has big plans for the upcoming season.

"I don't know if I want to be so happy towards growing but I want to be that guy who's remembered as the years pass," Jones Jr. said. "Just grow as a player and a person off the field. I think that Coach Kelly is helping me do that."

We're just under two weeks away from seeing Tony Jones Jr. and the rest of the Irish battle it out at Notre Dame Stadium for the Blue and Gold Spring Game.
