SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - It was a magical night for Penn high school basketball.

Legendary Kingsmen head basketball coach Al Rhodes led his team to the 71-56 victory over Washington to give Rhodes his 600th career win.

"I am very pleased," Rhodes said. "600 wins is something that is very special in Indiana high school basketball. I couldn't have a better team to do it. I just really appreciate the seniors, the way they are playing together and playing so tough on defense and everything. Very proud. I just think about all the players, all the assistant coaches and really have a very proud moment here."

Rhodes is the 14th coach to reach the 600-win milestone in Indiana high school basketball history.

One of the 14 to reach the milestone was Rhodes' coach at Penn High school, Jim Miller, who has 607 career wins. Rhodes hopes he can break Miller's career total later this season.
