ND Hockey in 'win or go home' mode

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - It's win or go home mode for the Notre Dame hockey team, as they are just a day away from taking the ice against Penn State for the Big 10 Championship, and a win away from clinching a berth in the NCAA tourney.

But the survive and advance mentality for the Irish didn't just start once postseason play began.

Notre Dame head coach Jeff Jackson says the win or go home mentality has been ingrained in the Irish hockey players heads for the last six weeks, and he says it will continue tomorrow night.

"We got away from any talk of NCAA Tournament or anything like that," Jackson said. "All our talk was about finishing in second place and then once we accomplished that, the focus was totally on winning the next game and getting to the semi-final, getting to the final for the Big 10. That's been the emphasis - to get the Big 10 Championship and win a championship. Everything else will take care of itself because that's the only thing that's on target for us right now. The only thing that matters is just focusing on the next game."

Puck drop between Notre Dame and Penn State is at 8 PM. You can catch the broadcast on Big Ten Network.
