The boys kept their perfect season intact with a big 60-41 win over rival St. Joe, while the girls used a huge 4th quarter comeback to improve to 17-1, and give the senior class their first win in the Holy War.
Jaden Ivey had another big night for the Knights, throwing down two thunderous dunks in the first half. St. Joe led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, and the game was tied at 20 at the half, but Marian outscored the Tribe 24-7 in the 3rd, en route to a 60-41 win to improve to 10-0.
Notre Dame men's basketball head coach Mike Brey was in attendance watching Ivey, who he has offered a scholarship too, as was ND women's coach Muffet McGraw.
On the girls' side, the Knights trailed by double digits in the 3rd quarter, before a furious finish in the 4th saw them come from behind to knock off St. Joe 49-45. Sophomore Mckenzie Hudgen led the way with 24 points, including the go-ahead three late in the game.
The win is the first in the rivalry for the Marian girls' senior class.
Both the boys and the girls will next play Riley in another boys-girls doubleheader on Friday. The girls game will begin at 6pm, with the boys immediately following.
