Irish goalie Cale Morris takes game to "another level" in postseason

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Note Dame has been rolling through the Big Ten Tournament and sit just one win away from clinching a NCAA tourney bid.

One of the big reasons why the Irish have been so good in the postseason is due in part to the efforts of Notre Dame goalie Cale Morris.

The goaltender has allowed only one goal in the three playoff games so far and coach Jeff Jackson says Morris plays a huge role in the team's success.

"Cale is the backbone of our team and when he plays calm, that's when our team is at its best," Jackson said. "They know that if they do make a mistake they've got that ace in the hole. Cale has been really good since we started in the playoffs. He's had a good season overall but I really think he's been on another level here in the playoffs."

The postseason continues for Morris and the Irish Saturday night on home nice at the Compton Family Ice Arena.

Notre Dame will play Penn State for the Big Ten Championship. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 PM.
