The Notre Dame men's lacrosse team will play for back-to-back ACC titles Saturday afternoon when they take on Virginia. A big reason the Irish are in that position is because of Bryan Costabile.
The junior midfielder has dominated the ACC tournament so far. In last weekend's semifinal win over Duke, he scored five goals, tying his career-high.
Success in the tournament is nothing new though for Costabile. He's put up huge numbers in all every tear, scoring 16 goals in five career games.
He was named to the All-Tournament team each of his first two seasons, and was named the ACC Championship MVP last season.
Costabile believes he's at his best on the biggest stages.
"I personally like those high-pressure situations," Costabile said. "I kind of like being in that moment where it's either win or go home pretty much, and I think that kind of always elevates everyone's game to a degree, and I know that it's not just me. I know I scored a few goals but I know that a lot of people also elevate their games, help other people out, get more opportunities, and I know our offense did a great job drawing doubles, drawing slides and getting the ball to me on the back side, and I was able to finish on some of them, but I know that everyone's able to elevate a little bit more, it's just having that high-pressure situation everyone really enjoys being in."
Costabile hopes his tournament success continues Saturday, when the Irish take on Virginia in the ACC Championship game in Charlottesville at 2pm. The game will air on ESPNU.
