The Concord Minutemen are the winners of the 16 Spirit Award for week 2.

The reigning Spirit School of the year held off stiff competition in 2-time Spirit School of the Year New Prairie as well as Penn and Riley. Brandywine was a distant 5th in the voting.

On Thursday, NewsCenter 16 Sports Director Angelo Di Carlo headed out to Concord to present the Minutemen a plaque from Monteith's Best-One and WNDU for showing the most school spirit on Friday Night Football.

Concord defeated Memorial in their Northern Lakes Conference opener last Friday 38-14 in front of a big crowd at Jake Field in what was Concord's first home game of the season.

Concord claimed 36% of the nearly 2,000 individual votes for the victory. New Prairie had 26% of the vote, Penn 20%, Riley 16% and Brandywine 2%.

Concord has its biggest week of the season this Friday night as they welcome in defending NLC champion and 4A state runner up NorthWood to Jake Field for a 7pm kickoff.
