SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Today the Irish had their second to last spring practice before the Blue Gold Spring game on Saturday.
One Notre Dame football players who has set high expectations for himself for the 2019 season is wide receiver Chase Claypool.
With Miles Boykin declaring for the NFL Draft, Claypool has become the clear No. 1 wide out on the roster and wants to play like that this upcoming year.
Claypool says he hopes to eclipse the 1,000-yard milestone for the first time in his career and haul in 15 touchdown receptions. Claypool wants to have a breakout year and show the world what he is capable of.
"I'm trying to leave behind a legacy of something that people will remember me here for so the more I can work on the better," Claypool said. "I'm working on route running, catching the ball better, more consistency with yards after the catch. Just trying to expand the film so they can see everything I am capable of. I think it gives me something to live up to. I think if I fall short of that it's a disappointment."
Claypool will put his skills on display Saturday at the Blue Gold spring game. The action starts at 12:30 PM.
