ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - The Elkhart Memorial Chargers were scoreless heading into the bottom of the seventh inning and were on the verge of losing a 1-0 shutout.
But the Chargers quickly loaded the bases with no outs and then tied the game on a ground out by Dashuan Holloway.
The next very next batter, Cannon Harris, put an end to the ball game as he lined a ball into left field to score Landon Lee and give Elkhart Memorial the 2-1 win over NorthWood.
"I was just telling myself, 'nobody better, nobody better,' and he through it right down the middle," Harris said. "It's the most adrenaline you can feel in any sport. It's absolutely crazy. When you get up there you have all the nerves and all the anxiety and as soon as you see the ball go off the bat, it's just the best feeling you can have in baseball."
And head coach Scott Rost feels nothing but excited for Harris on his walk-off winner.
"He hasn't hit that much this year and for him to come up in the clutch like that, that's really special," Rost said. "He's been so solid for us defensively and he had the opportunity to come through there and I'm really happy for him."
Elkhart Memorial improves to 6-6 in NLC play with the win.
