SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame women's basketball team won their game today over Binghamton 103-53.
But the big story of the day was Arike Ogunbowale. She became the fifth player in Irish women's basketball history to score 2,000 points.
"I think it's just an honor, especially to do it at this school," Ogunbowale said. "There are so many players that have come through and so it's cool to be able to be in that group and category. We have a lot more players who can get it soon, so hopefully this year. It's just a blessing."
"That's a lot of points," Irish head coach Muffet McGraw said. "It is amazing what she's done freshman year coming off the bench, didn't score a lot of points so it's really been the last three years and she is just a great offensive player. She is so exciting to watch. I think the most exciting player in college basketball."
Next up for Ogunbowale and the Irish, they're back at home against Western Kentucky on Wednesday. Tip off is at 7 PM.
