A women has been pronounced dead after a three car crash in LaGrange County on Thursday night left her critically injured.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. in the 6000-block of S. S.R. 9, in Johnson Township. Police tell us 54-year-old Michael Ort of LaGrange was driving a pickup truck towing a trailer south on S.R. 9 and then began to back the trailer into his driveway.

That's when a car driving northbound by 49-year-old Constance Engdahl of LaGrange hit the trailer. It sent her car spinning, 180 degrees, and it stopped facing south in the northbound lane with no working headlights.

A third vehicle, driven by 25-year-old Kenlin Hershberger of LaGrange, hit her vehicle head-on. Engdahl had to be helped from her vehicle by firefighters and was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for her injuries. The others were not hurt. All three drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The woman was extracted from her vehicle and taken to the hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later from her injuries sustained during the crash.
