WESTVILLE, Ind. (WNDU) A woman was arrested for drug dealing and possession while visiting the Westville Correctional Facility to pick up an inmate who was being released.

On March 14, Kayla Booth checked into the main gate of the Indiana prison to pick up offender Jose Delgato.

The Investigations and Intelligence Office had received information about possible trafficking during Delgato's release, so they initiated contact.

Booth reportedly admitted to having drugs and drug paraphernalia after being told that she and her vehicle would be searched.

Police say they found the following in her vehicle: a meth pipe, a bag containing less than 1 gram of meth, 3 strips of Suboxone and 3 acetaminophen/hydrocodone pills.

Booth was arrested and charged with dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance (Hydrocodone – Level 6 Felony IC 35-48-4-2); possession of methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony IC 35-48-4-6.1); and possession of a controlled Substance (Suboxone – A Misdemeanor IC 35-48-4-7).

Booth was booked into the La Porte County Jail.

Delgado’s release was suspended pending an investigation into his involvement with the controlled substance offenses.
