Victim's husband talks murder motive
New information sheds light in a possible motive for the murder in Minnesota of a missing mother from St. Joseph County.
The woman’s husband tells NewsCenter 16 that there was a long standing relationship between murder victim Christina Woods and murder suspect Daniel Lynn.
“His (Daniel Lynn’s) wife was Christina’s best friend for 25 years. We had, they were over for birthdays, we went over there for birthdays,” said Troy Woods, husband of Christina Woods.
Troy Woods says that late last year he learned his wife was having an affair with 40 year old Daniel Lynn. “I had my suspicions but I did not know until October that they was actually together.”
Christina Woods’ body was found in a shallow grave in Minnesota last week on property owned by relatives of Daniel Lynn.
Daniel Lynn is still on the loose.
By May, Troy Woods says Daniel Lynn beat Christina bad enough to put her in the hospital.
By June, Troy Woods feels the tide seemed to be turning as he, his wife, and their four children all spent the day together at the beach—the week before Christina disappeared. “Pretty much the last time I ever seen her smile, you know, walking hand to hand with the kids.”
Troy Woods is convinced that Daniel Lynn did not want the Woods to re-unite and that “jealousy” was the motive for the killing.
Troy Woods says he received a telephone call from Christina on the last day anyone saw her alive.
“The last time anyone heard from her was June 12th, that day she called me, and the phone went dead. The conversation maybe lasted 20 seconds, she wouldn’t tell me where she was, and then I heard her saying something in the background saying ‘it’s locked, it’s locked. And then the phone went dead,” said Troy Woods.
Troy Woods says he had filed for divorce from his wife, but withdrew the case earlier this year.
Christina leaves behind four children ranging in age from 3 to 12.
Christina did not have life insurance so a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
Troy Woods says his wife will be buried at South Lawn cemetery next to ‘Lillian,’ a child that Christina had delivered prematurely that lived just an hour and a half.
