BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNDU) - Orchards Mall in Benton Township is avoiding foreclosure for another year thanks to its new owners.

The mall's new owners, Durga Property Holdings, are starting to pay back taxes, according to our reporting partners at WSJM. They have submitted a check for more than $20,000, which covers the 2016 property taxes.

The mall still owes a total of about $221,000 for 2017 and 2018 combined. But now that 2016 is paid, the Berrien County treasurer says he is willing to work out a payment plan on the mall's other back taxes.
