South Bend Police investigating shooting on W. Western

Officers are investigating a shooting that took place in the 4800 block of W. Western around 4am Sunday.

Officers were responding to a call on Western for shots fired when they were notified of a victim in the area of Lincoln Way West and Adams.

They found a 24-year-old male with a wound to the chest and a 23-year-old male with a wound to the arm. Both were taken to the hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries.

Later, officers were notified of a walk-in shooting victim at the hospital. The victim is a male with an injury to the hand. His injury is connected to the incident on Western.

Through the initial investigation, officers learned there was a gathering on Western with as many as 200 people when shots were fired.

The police department is asking that anyone, especially those who were at the gathering, with information to call the South Bend Police Department at 574-235-9201 or Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
