FRANCESVILLE, Ind. --- Two people were injured Monday, in a Pulaski County grain elevator explosion.

It happened at around 2 p.m. at the Tate & Lyle grain elevator in Francesville. Police say witnesses reported two explosions while they believe it was an explosion in the lower half of the elevator traveled to the top and blew out the windows.

Four people were inside at the time of the explosion. Two were severely burned and had to be airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Firefighters attempted to enter the building Monday evening after an air sampling found no explosive atmosphere. When they entered, there was a fire burning in a pit below the elevator. Firefighters put out the fire but because of the collapse, could not go in to conduct an investigation.

Authorities say there is no threat to nearby homes.
