Two fans attending ND-USC game, died of cardiac events Saturday

NOTRE DAME, In. (WNDU)- NewsCenter 16 has learned that two fans attending the ND-USC game, died within hours of each other Saturday night.

St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office, confirms that 76-year-old Stephen Briley of Midway, Utah, passed away at the stadium following a cardiac event.

Paramedics from the Notre Dame and South Bend Fire Departments responded immediately, but their resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

"The University extends its deepest condolences to the family," said Notre Dame Spokesman Dennis Brown.

Just hours later, following the game, another man went into cardiac arrest.

St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office also confirms that 67-year-old Michael Bevington of O’Fallon, Illinois died while in a cab leaving the game.
