The Indiana Toll Road is planning to open 20 miles of the highway this Memorial Day weekend.
In addition, the Exit 72 interchange already opened to traffic earlier this week, while the Exit 21 interchange in Portage is scheduled to open before or on Memorial Day.
“As we prepare to commemorate Memorial Day and welcome the start of summer travel season, we’ve worked hard to reopen these 20 miles of roadway and two interchanges for our customers,” said Nic Barr, Chief Executive Officer for ITRCC, said in a press release.
Over the past two-and-a-half months, the Toll Road says it has repaved 75 lane-miles of road and reconstructed six interchanges.
The repairs are part of the '80/90 PUSH construction project,' which aims to reconstruction a total of 73-miles and improve multiple overpasses.
The project is set to be completed by the end of the summer.
