Tips on making your own table arrangments this Easter

NILES, Mich. (WNDU) - We all love flowers, but buying your own arrangements can get pretty pricey. So why not do it yourself this Easter?

Phil Hurlbutt is the owner of The Flower Cart in Niles, and he says it doesn't have to cost much to ‘wow’ your guests for Easter dinner.

You can purchase inexpensive figurines at any store and assemble a center piece for your table from the spring flowers growing in your garden.

And when you do pick the flowers from your garden, be sure to cut the stems with a knife rather than scissors.

"When you're cutting with a knife, you're basically giving the flower more to drink from,” Hurlbutt said. “Then if you take scissors or wire cutters, what you're doing to it, you're crushing the pores."

And happening Wednesday through Saturday, customers who mention “WNDU” at the Flower Cart will receive 10% off their purchase.
