UPDATE: Zachary Sanders will appear in court this week. He faces a charge of manslaughter.

Police arrested 20-year-old Zachary Sanders for the death of Troy Mapes, 16, in a hit-and-run accident in Crawford Park on Friday night.

One neighbor says he heard an argument and then caught a glimpse of the mini-van leaving the park.

"There was a screeching loud noise, saw the car go through the park, we didn't know what happened," says Antonio Guidi. "You don't want to believe a kid got hit by a vehicle or anything like that, but when I saw the kid running to the neighbor's house, I knew something wasn't right," he says.

Sanders has been charged with Voluntary Manslaughter and is being held at St. Joseph County jail.

A teenage boy is dead after a hit-and-run accident in a Mishawaka park.

Family of Troy Mapes, 16, confirms he was killed after being struck by a minivan at the park.

The incident happened around 10:40 p.m. Friday at Crawford Park, located in the 1000 block of East Mishawaka Avenue. Police say four teens were in the park when a minivan drove through, striking one of the teens.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital.
