Suspect in deadly South Bend hit-and-run appears in court

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - One of two suspects involved in a deadly South Bend hit-and-run appeared in court Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Ashlee Nicely, along with 22-year-old Carlos Williams, is accused of hitting a bicyclist on Brick Road in South Bend last October. The couple allegedly then took off, and the victim, 61-year-old Ishayaa Diya, died at the scene.

Both Nicely and Williams have pleaded not guilty.

Nicely will be back in court for a status conference on March 14. Meanwhile, Williams has a status conference on Feb. 20.
