A South Bend family doctor is behind bars, accused of molesting a five-year-old family member.
Police booked Dr. Jon Andrew Shull, 36, into the St. Joseph County Jail on Tuesday. He's being held without bond on one count of child molesting.
Shull used to work for Beacon Health Group at the Southeast Neighborhood Health Center as a family physician.
A representative for Beacon Health said the medical group ended its affiliation with Shull in 2015 but would not elaborate as to why.
According to court documents the alleged molestation happened back in February of 2014 when the young girl was in Shull's bed.
The five-year-old victim reportedly confided in a relative that Shull touched her buttocks. When that same relative confronted Shull about the incident, the court record indicates he admitted to touching her.
Investigators spoke with the girl in November of 2015. According to charging documents, the girl said Shull took her into his bedroom and made her touch his penis:
Investigators also had the opportunity to speak with Shull over the phone in November of 2015. Shull stated he didn't remember exactly what happened, but told authorities the girl informed a relative he had touched her buttocks. The court record indicates Shull informed police he touched her outside of her underwear.
A jury trial has been scheduled for July 11.
