In an effort to promote unity, community organizers are gathering in South Bend on Friday to host the "People's Inauguration: Voice for Justice and Inclusion" event.
The event is looking to mark a renewed commitment to social change in the community.
From 4 to 6:30 p.m., a group of community speakers will host breakout sessions on justice and inclusion and community engagement.
These sessions help the community get involved and create change.
"A lot of us who have been working in the movement wanted something that was an alternative for this day that really celebrated the people and our ability to come together in unity to move change forward for equal protection and equal rights," said Jamie Morgan, Director of the Board for Pro-Choice South Bend.
Later Friday night, an inaugural ball will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Civil Rights Heritage Center located at 1040 West Washington Street.
