Social Security scammers appear to be calling from real SSA

By  |

Scammers call saying your Social Security number is at risk. Then, they give you the last four digits and ask you to tell them the rest.

Don't do it; it's a scam.

What's troubling is that the number they're calling from appears to be the real one for the Social Security Administration, and they claim they want to help you reactivate and keep your current benefits.

People in Michiana have told NewsCenter 16 they've gotten this call.

Local police want to remind folks not to give out your Social Security number to anyone who unexpectedly calls you.

If you're worried, hang up and call the SSA yourself.
