Real Services holds raffle to benefit Meals on Wheels program

SOUTH BEND, Ind. Real Services held its 8th Real Room Makeover raffle drawing in South Bend on Wednesday.

The money raised goes to support its Meals on Wheels program.

Every $50 coupon purchased goes toward 10 meals.

Organizers say Meals on Wheels is important because it helps homebound people feel less isolated, giving them a home visit and a nutritious meal.

"Studies have been done on the Meals on Wheels program to show that the people who receive these meals have fewer falls, have fewer hospitalizations," said Becky Zaseck, Real Services President and CEO. "So it's not just good for the individual in that they get a meal, but it really means so much more."

All who purchased tickets were entered into a raffle which featured 60 different prizes and a grand prize of $15,000 cash or a $25,000 room makeover.

Wednesday's grand prize winner was Kim Dewitt of Elkhart.
