ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A Wednesday night power outage in St. Joseph County was a likely factor in a crash that resulted in minor injuries.

As of about 10:15 p.m., the outage, which started at 9:22 p.m., was affecting 6,351 customers, according to I&M's outage map. The estimated restoration time is 3 a.m.

The drivers involved in the crash reportedly did not realize that the lights at Douglas Road and Ironwood Road were out and continued to drive through the intersection. A white car T-boned a black car, sending it flying off the road.

Officials on the scene told NewsCenter 16 a driver and a passenger suffered only minor injuries.

Police offered a reminder that when traffic lights are out, the intersection becomes a four-way stop.
