SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - For Michiana's animal lovers, the Potawatomi Zoo opened for the season Friday.

The first thing visitors will probably notice is the construction going on, but don't let that stop you from heading in to check out some of the new exhibits they have.

"We have a new African painted dog, and he's with our female, so we are excited for pups, new red panda for breeding, Chacoan peccaries for breeding, and then a sand cat named Shrek, so lots of new animal faces to join those animal friends that people are so used to visiting here at the zoo," Executive Director Marcy Dean said.
