UPDATE: Woman in stable condition after South Bend shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A woman is in stable condition at the hospital after a shooting just west of downtown South Bend Wednesday night.

Emergency responders were called to an apartment in the 1200 block of West Washington Street around 11:22 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old woman with a wound to the abdomen.

Officers learned the victim was inside her home when she heard gunfire from outside. She reported then feeling pain and called 911.

Police did not immediately have information on a potential suspect or suspects.

This case remains under investigation.
