Police: Teen walk-in gunshot victim shot himself unintentionally

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Police in South Bend say a 17-year-old gunshot victim unintentionally shot himself Monday evening. His wounds are not life-threatening.

Officers initially began investigating after a male gunshot victim arrived at the hospital, and police said it was not immediately clear where the shooting itself happened, according to an initial 7:05 p.m. tweet from the police department.

In an updated tweet from 9:38 p.m., police announced the investigation revealed the shooting was self-inflicted and unintentional.

The victim reportedly suffered a wound to the thigh.
