SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Community leaders gathered in South Bend Friday to discuss the 33rd annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. service breakfast and day of celebration.
Festivities will be held on Jan. 21 at Century Center, where activities will include a memorial march, workshops, exhibits and a celebration concert.
Event organizers say it's important for everyone to remember King, especially younger generations.
"As time passes, we forget people," chairperson Gladys Muhammad said. "And we don't want anyone to ever forget that Dr. Martin Luther King was a drum major for justice. And that he lived his life and lost his life as a result of struggling for freedom and change for everybody."
Tickets for the event cost $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 5-12. You can buy your tickets online at sbheritage.org.
