OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A standoff at a home in Owen County, Ind., is now over and a man is dead.
Officers shot and killed the 31-year-old army veteran at around 7 a.m. on Saturday morning, over 30 hours after they say he had his wife inside and wouldn't come out.
Police shot and killed the man after they say he shot at them.
We don't know the man's name yet.
Police say he took his wife and two kids hostage. The kids were allowed to leave on Friday, but his wife was not released until the standoff ended. She is now in the hospital.
But according to our sister station WTHR, the man's mother said he is a veteran who suffered from post-traumatic stress.
He served two tours in Afghanistan, according to a friend, but has a past of domestic violence.
