GOSHEN, Ind. (WNDU) - The sole Republican candidate for Goshen mayor has died from undisclosed health issues.

Seventy-seven-year-old Terry T. Snyder died at his home Saturday, our reporting partners at The Goshen News say. Snyder had filed his candidacy paperwork at the Elkhart County Clerk's Office in February.

The Elkhart County Republican Party is examining its options for a replacement candidate, though party officials have indicated that it's likely too late in the process to have a new candidate slated by the May 7 primary election.

Snyder's funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10 at the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen.
