Summer vacations don’t have to be expensive.

NewsCenter 16’s Melissa Stephens has some ideas for those who want to take trips on one tank of gas.

A great option is heading east to Pokagon State Park in Angola, Indiana.

It’s one of Indiana’s most beautiful parks, and it sits right on the scenic James and Snow lakes.

Numerous hiking and biking trails are all throughout the park, and for those wanting to explore by horseback, the Saddle Barn offers trail rides throughout the day.

It’s a privately owned business, but the trails are in Pokagon State Park.

It costs $25 for the 45 minute ride.

“We like the campground. That’s what we came to do,” said one family visiting the park.

If staying in the campground isn’t your thing, the Potawatomi Inn is right at the entrance of the park, and it has 138 rooms.

Rooms cost an average of $128 per night, and some have scenic views that look out over James Lake.

The Potawatomi Inn also has kayak, paddle board, canoe and pontoon rentals. Prices for the rentals vary.
