The Notre Dame Chapter of Uplifting Athletes held their annual community bowling event Sunday at Strikes and Spares in Mishawaka. Members of the community were invited to bowl with a few Notre Dame Football players for a great cause from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost for this event was $30.

“We are raising money for rare diseases,” says Drew Recker who is the chapter president. “About four years ago we adopted a kid on the team, Sam Grewe, who has osteosarcoma and since then our organization has expanded to encompass all rare diseases and just help people all over the country, all Irish fans, everywhere.”

Recker says there are about 30 Uplifting Athletes Chapters across the country and all of them are affiliated with Division I football programs. He says Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $4 million.
