No one hurt after shot fired during Niles armed robbery; police search for suspect

NILES, Mich. (WNDU) – Police are looking for a suspect in a Niles armed robbery Wednesday afternoon in which one shot was fired but no one was hit.

Police were dispatched around 12:24 p.m. to a Check Into Cash in the 700 block of 11th Street, according to a release from the Niles Police Department.

A preliminary investigation reportedly revealed the suspect showed he had a gun and fired it once before leaving with an unknown amount of money. They reportedly do not know if the suspect fired intentionally or accidentally, but no one was hurt.

Police say he was a black man who fled in a light-colored car.

Immediately after the robbery, Michigan State Police troopers and Berrien County Sheriff's deputies searched the area in an attempt to located the man who held up the Check Into Cash, but they were not able to find him.
