NILES, Mich. (WNDU) - Students at Ring Lardner Middle School in Niles started off their Friday with some free books.

The middle school hosted a reading store for all students part of their inaugural March Reading Month celebration Friday.

At the reading store, students were able to choose any one book of their choice at no cost. The books were all part of several donations to help promote student reading.

"We're just going to continue plugging away and pushing reading and telling them how fun it is," librarian Amy Gourlay said. "You may not like it right now, but someday, you are really going to enjoy it, so give it a chance."

Students will also have an opportunity to take part in several March Reading Month contests and dress up as their favorite storybook character.
