UPDATE: Warrant issued for suspect in Niles shooting

NILES, Mich. (WNDU) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a 21-year-old suspect in a Niles shooting over the weekend, and police say there are two more suspects they are investigating.

Police seek Dayshawn Lavell Smith, of Niles, for his alleged part in the shooting in the 600 block of Wayne Street.

Officers say a 911 call came in at 7:50 p.m. from a citizen who reported seeing a gunshot victim lying in the street. Police say that victim is a 25-year-old man from Niles who is in stable condition at the hospital.

Officers believe at least two shots were fired inside a vehicle, and three suspects got out and ran away.

Smith's warrant is for felony aggravated assault-intent to murder.

The two suspects other than Smith have not yet been publicly identified.
