Newborn left in local baby box is now with adoptive family
Newborn "Baby Hope" was
and now she's with her adoptive family.
On Thursday, the founder and president of Safe Haven Baby Boxes posted an emotional Facebook video.
"I have been very blessed to meet this little girl and hold her and love on her for a few minutes. She's perfect. She's beautiful. I've just been so honored to be able to see what we fight for," Monica Kelsey said.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the Coolspring Township volunteer fire department at 10:24 p.m. on November 7 after receiving an alert from the box.
They say "Hope" was about an hour old, with the umbilical cord still attached.
This was the first time someone had placed a baby inside a baby box.
It was installed at the department in April 2016 and is one of only two in the U.S. The other is at a fire department near Fort Wayne.
