The Department of Homeland Security on Thursday officially pushed back the enforcement of the Real ID a full year to October 1, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Even before the coronavirus outbreak, it was unlikely states would have met this year's deadline.

As of last month, only about 35 percent of US ID’s complied with the Real ID Act, a post 9-11 law that establishes security standards for licenses.
