SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A University of Notre Dame football player accused of punching two police officers has entered a pretrial diversion agreement with the state of Indiana.
Twenty-year-old Javon McKinley was arrested by Notre Dame Security Police on Feb. 10. Prosecutors say McKinley punched the officers while they were helping him get to a dorm after he was found unresponsive in an Uber.
As part of the pretrial diversion, the state agrees to withhold from prosecuting McKinley as long as he complies with each term of the agreement, which includes paying court costs and staying out of legal trouble.
McKinley did play in Saturday's Blue-Gold game.
