SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The 6-0 Fighting Irish women's basketball team is looking to remain undefeated against No. 14 Iowa Hawkeyes.
Over the holiday weekend, the Irish won the Vancouver Showcase.
Jackie Young was named the espnW player of the week as she averaged more than 20 points in Vancouver.
After the Hawkeyes, the Irish face a marquee matchup against No. 2 UConn Huskies.
Despite the tough schedule, the Irish are taking it one day and one game at a time.
"So many top matchups," head coach Muffet McGraw said. "I mean, going to DePaul. Then playing Western and Drake and Oregon State. You know we're playing a lot of top teams so we have to be ready every single game. Iowa's a really good team and I know we're just focused on that."
"Just taking it day by day," guard Arike Ogunbowale said. "I think that's what we're best at. And we don't really you know look forward to the future. We just try to focus on each game cause everybody's going to give us their best game so we definitely have to be prepared every night."
The Irish take on the Hawkeyes Thursday night at 7 p.m.
