UPDATE: Police searching for answers in Mishawaka SWAT situation

MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WNDU) - Police say there are still a lot of unknowns about a SWAT situation that blocked Main Street in Mishawaka for four hours on Wednesday.

Police were dispatched to a burglary in progress and found a woman injured.

After learning some more information, they thought the person who hurt the woman might be inside a nearby home.

They sent in the SWAT team but ended up with nobody in custody.

Police are trying to figure out exactly what happened.

"Both of her eyes were black and blue and blood-covered," a neighbor said, describing the injured woman. "I mean, it was all bloody over here."

"I came walking up, SWAT team was here throwing tear gas in my house, shooting in my house, thinking somebody was in here still," the person living in the house said. "Who knows if he -- obviously, he wasn't in here still, because they would have took him out."

The person living at the house was devastated by the damage the SWAT team did to her home, and she now wonders what the future looks like.

"It's either pack up and wait until Friday, stay in this cold-a** house and wait until Friday to go get a hotel room, or just stay here," she said. "I don't know what to do. I really don't know what to do."

Police say they will likely have more information on what exactly happened on Thursday.
