ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A Middlebury man has been arrested after leading police on a chase on the Indiana Toll Road.

Police attempted to stop a Jeep for a traffic violation just west of the County Road 17 exit Wednesday afternoon around 4:35.

Police say the Jeep pulled over to the right, but instead of stopping, it sped off, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The jeep attempted to exit the Toll Road at Exit 101 for Bristol, but it was going too fast for the ramp and crashed into a tree line.

Police say the driver, identified as 32-year-old Waylon Weaver, got out of the Jeep and took off running.

Officers eventually caught up to Weaver and arrested him after he fell into a sand pit.
