"Michiana Five" holds backpack drive for the homeless

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Many of us are grateful for the oncoming warmer weather, but for the homeless, it means the end of weather amnesty.

On Saturday, Michiana Five for the Homeless held a backpack drive.

Starting April 1, those who are homeless can no longer leave their belongings at a shelter.

So, community members donated bags which go straight to the homeless right here in Michiana.

Volunteers say a bag may seem insignificant to some - but to a homeless person, it means so much more.

Michiana Five for the Homeless hosts drives throughout the year.
