SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend mayoral candidate James Mueller picked up another key endorsement Saturday.
Indiana State Senator David Niezgodski announced his support for Mueller at the Studebaker 84 building in South Bend.
Mueller is one of nine democrats running for mayor.
Sen. Niezgodski says Mueller has proven experience, serving as Chief of Staff under current Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Niezgodski also says Mueller has brought jobs and resources to the city, and his vision aligns with what South Bend stands for.
"I believe he is the very best candidate for the job. He has that vision, he is willing to sit down at the table with everyone necessary," said Sen. Niezgodski. "He is willing to fight for families and working men and people and I think hands down, he is going to be the best person that we should elect as our next mayor."
If elected as mayor, Mueller says he plans to focus on economic growth, invest in more neighborhood resources and strengthen schools.
The primary election for South Bend takes place on May 7th.
