Massachusetts K-9 makes full recovery after April shooting

A police canine in Massachusetts that was wounded in a shooting in April has made a full recovery.

The Yarmouth Police Department made the announcement on its Facebook page Thanksgiving morning. Nero is officially retired from police work and living with the Gannon family.

Sgt. Sean Gannon and Nero were trying to serve a warrant when they were ambushed and shot. Gannon died at a local hospital.

The gunman is behind bars, being held without bail.
